Snowboarding is an extremely fun and exhilarating sport; let's face it, whether you ride or not, snowboarding is totally cool. It's got all the elements a life-loving girl could want; speed, exercise, style and self-expression, fashion, fresh air, and beautiful scenery.
However, if you are a beginner, then you have lots of "trial and error", otherwise known as falling, headed your way before you really start to experience the complete joy and fulfillment of snowboarding. This is why we URGE, before throwing yourself at the mercy of the mountain and her best friend, Mr. Gravity, take a lesson. Getting some proper basic instruction can reduce your future wipeout count significantly.
We see too many people each year sacrificing their bodies unnecessarily and in horrible ways, because, for whatever reason, they didn't take a lesson. If it's not possible to take a lesson, or you just wont; try to make your first trip with an experienced, but level-headed, friend who can give you some good pointers.
Whatever you decide to do, the following lessons were written to help guide the non-rider from a newbie doing face plants trying to turn toe-side, to a neo-shredder doing basic 50/50s on 9 foot rails. Please, take them at your own pace, in part or in whole, in order or not and then go out and safely enjoy the amazing, life-altering experiences the world's greatest sport has to offer!
